Toronto’s Reliable Living Centre named Garaventa Lift Project of the Month for June 2014

1st-floor-watermarked-press Finished-install-watermarked-press Red-2-watermarked-pressOn June 11, 2014 The Reliable Living Centre in downtown Toronto had their Grand Opening. The facility showcases products to enhance any building and make it barrier-free. The showroom features a vertical platform lift, and inclined platform lift and a LU/LA elevator with a glass enclosure. All of these products were provided by Garaventa Lift. The Elvoron LU/LA with the Glass Enclosure has been selected as the Garaventa Lift Project of the Month for June, 2014.

The installation really pops. It features a two-tone custom RAL color scheme with bright white aluminum enclosure framing and sliding doors offset by deep orange fascia around the doors.

Further information regarding The Reliable Living Centre can be obtained from their website, www.reliableliving.com

Congratulations to Garaventa Lift Ontario and to The Reliable Living Centre!

Universal Design Means No Doorknobs

Vancouver City Hall has opted to remove all of the door knobs in the building and replace them with levers. This might seem like a waste, but consider that all City Halls are facilities frequently used by the public. Designing spaces for public use requires the designer to recognize the need for Universal Design. Universal Design produces spaces that are accessible for all members of the public, regardless of ability. Not only are they doing this at City Hall, but they have passed an accessible housing bylaw that requires all new buildings to include levers instead of knobs.
